Piedmont's Karissa Fiegener named Oklahoma high school softball Gatorade Player of the Year
Piedmont’s infielder Karissa Fiegener was named the 2021-22 Gatorade Oklahoma Softball Player of the Year, the company announced Thursday. Fiegener is the first from Piedmont to win the award.
The 6-foot junior shortstop and catcher led the Wildcats (35-7) to the Class 5A state championship this season. Fiegener batted .532 with 11 home runs, 47 runs batted in, 45 runs scored and 23 stolen bases. She posted an on-base percentage of .612 and a slugging percentage of 1.032. A National Fastpitch Coaches Association First Team All-Region selection, she was the District 5A-2 Player of the Year and was named to The Oklahoman Big All-City First Team.
“Karissa Fiegener was the best player that we faced all year,” Enid coach Chris Jensen said in a release. “She possesses every tool that you could want in a player: power, average, size, speed and arm.”
